At the core of my coaching philosophy is the principle of deep listening. I believe that understanding your vision and story is essential to providing effective guidance. By listening intently, I'm able to ask the right questions that spark creative solutions and invigorate your writing process. My goal is to help you discover what excites you about your story, ensuring that you stay motivated and inspired to keep writing.
When I coach, we begin with a Zoom discovery call, which is a pivotal first step where we explore your author career goals, current story status, and specific coaching needs. During this session, we delve into your story's plot, character goals, motivations, and conflicts. I listen not only to what is said but also to the unsaid, identifying areas that may need attention. Through powerful questions and insightful feedback, I provide you with a roadmap that is specific to you and your story so you can overcome obstacles and unlock new possibilities as we move into a coaching partnership.
Personalised Coaching is all about Crafting Your Unique Path
Every writer is unique, and so is my approach. Together, we agree on a personalised coaching schedule, whether weekly or fortnightly, to best suit your needs. After each session, I send a tailored follow-up email outlining the tasks and deadlines we've agreed on, ensuring support, accountability and progress. For those opting for fortnightly coaching, I offer a 'check-in' email during the in-between week to keep the momentum going.
My coaching integrates developmental editing skills and professional coaching skills which creates a safe space for exploration and discovery. I reflect on what I hear, explaining why certain elements work or don't, and collaborate with you to bring your story to life. This process allows us to dig deep and uncover aspects of your story and characters you may never have considered. We can explore story structure, character's goals, motivations and conflicts, create a pitch for conferences or a written query letter and synopsis for query publisher and agents. We can work on short stories, novels, how to network, making time to write and so much more. It's all focused on you and your needs.
Beyond Storytelling is about Building Your Author Brand
My coaching extends beyond the craft of storytelling. I assist writers in building their author brand, offering guidance on marketing strategies, networking, and guest appearances for blogs and podcasts. Whether it's writing articles, crafting Instagram posts, or attending conferences, I help you navigate the ever-evolving landscape of author marketing. Additionally, I support you in crafting compelling book jacket copy, synopses, and query letters, which are essential tools for capturing the attention of agents and readers alike.
